McComas was also Director of Marketing at VLSI Technology's Portable Systems Division responsible for handheld, notebook system logic and notebook graphics chipsets. He has also held marketing management positions in the Silicon Valley with LSI Logic, Mosel/Vitelic, Siliconix and Faraday (a subsidiary of Western Digital). He has spent several years living in Japan working in high technology, and is fluent in Japanese.
