ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS RISER SIG RISES TO THE OCCASION DEMONSTRATING BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY DURING THE PLATFORM 2001 CONFERENCES

Portland, Ore., January 19, 2001. The ACR SIG will present papers and demonstrate HomePNA and XDSL over ACR at the Platform Conferences in San Jose, CA and Taipei, Taiwan. Additionally, the ACR SIG will host a Plug Fest and Technical Training in Taipei, Taiwan surrounding the Platform Conference in February.

The ACR SIG will present papers on the following topics during the Platform Conference: "Advanced Communications Riser Standard - Here and Now", "IPB Architecture and Uses", "ACR - A Flexible and Inexpensive Alternative to Multiple PCI Cards", and "ACR and Future Corelogic Applications".

As a supplement to the training material, attendees will have the opportunity to view a working demo at the ACR SIG exhibit booth showcasing DSL and HomePNA, this demo can be viewed at exhibit booth # 17, January 23 and 24, 2001 at the Silicon Valley Convention Center in San Jose, CA and at the Taipei International Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan at exhibit booth # 18, on February 14 and 15, 2001.

Due to the industry's support of the ACR SIG through new product development, the SIG is hosting a Members Only Technical Training, which is a three hour event held the morning of February 12, 2001 at the Hyatt in Taipei, Taiwan. Technical training consists of various in-depth discussions about designing with the ACR Specification. Experts will discuss an array of topics including: IPB, EEPROM, motherboard layout and riser card design.

Also available in Taipei, immediately following the Technical Training, member companies have the opportunity to test their products at the Members Only Plug Fest. This day and a half event will also be held at the Hyatt on February 12 and 13, 2001. The event enables member companies to perform interoperability testing, while providing a venue for designers to troubleshoot potential certification problems. Technical experts also will be onsite to assist with design questions regarding the ACR Specification.

About the Platform Conference

The Platform Conference is known for offering intense education on key issues and topics that will affect future technologies and standards. This instruction takes place both in the exhibit area and through focused technology briefings, where the latest technology initiatives, products and strategies will be disclosed. ACR has previously been involved with the Platform Conference and looks forward to its affiliation with the San Jose and Taipei events. The ACR SIG is taking this opportunity to join others in educating the industry about important technological advancements.
